Ex Lockheed
[Rocket Scientist]

Web Site Objective:

The original intent of this personal web site was to learn html, build a web site and communicate with family. Also, share information with people in the aerospace industry, and share common interests / hobbies including Jaguar Cars.

This website was created with Microsoft Front Page 2003. Front Page often creates unpredictable results for people browsing with Netscape browser. I test, but cannot test for all combination and permutations of browser set up. A useful tip for people using Netscape, set your default font size to 10 points using the edit/preferences menu. I appreciate feedback for potential viewing problems using my "feedback page".

My picture on the RHS was taken in San Diego 2006.

 General Background:

After graduating in England with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering, I became  an aerospace structural engineer, working on the design and analysis of commercial and military aircraft, helicopters, hovercraft, airships, spacecraft. Also, devoted a number of years to being a rocket scientist. Currently I have 25 years in the Aerospace industry.  Please refer to resume page for details of my aerospace career.

Although reasonably successful, traveled and lived in several countries,  the aerospace industry is a cyclic business. Boom always turns to bust in approximately 10 year cycles.

If up and coming young persons are thinking of starting out in the aerospace industry, my recommendation is to give the industry a try if you are a risk taker and want to explore the world. On the other hand if you like job security, prefer to live in one location, or you are looking to earn a "Large Wad", (English yuppie slang for "lots of money"), then look elsewhere. This industry is not for you. The best aerospace opportunities are within the small up and coming corporations. The larger corporations are somewhat devoid of real career opportunities. Go to the Aerospace Home Page to view listings of Aerospace Corporations and opportunities.

Presently I temporarily reside in San Diego, CA, USA as a permanent resident (green card), but also have a dual British and Canadian citizenship.  Any person thinking of emigrating to the US must be for-warned. The process is generally inequitable, bureaucratic and requires a lot of patience and persistence.

  Weather:

For persons back in cold, windy and wet England I have added a live web-cam picture of San Diego and the San Diego weather forecast. We are rumored to receive lot's of sunshine each year, a primary motive for locating here..
