| Fuel Hoses (Ref pg 155/157):
If your car is eight to ten years old, the fuel hoses on the fuel rail will be cracked and worn. Replace then with 5/16 inch fuel injection hose. Numerous engine fires have been caused by this fault. The Jag engine bay is too hot and degrades
the fuel hose.

| Fuel Pick Up (Ref pg157):
If your car suffers from intermittent stalling and starting problems check the fuel filter in the fuel sump. This filter gets blocked due to a debris build up over time. I hate messing will fuel and vapor but I conducted this job.

| Fuel Cooler (Ref pg 162):
The fuel cooler will only work if the air conditioning is in good working order. If the owner lives in a hot climate, the fuel cooler may be required to prevent vapor lock problems. I live in Denver, one of my cars does not have air
conditioning and at least up until now I have not suffered vapor lock problems.

| Fuel Tanks (Ref pg 163):
My Jaguars are Hess convertibles. These cars have deficient fuel vent systems. One of the cars would always smell of fuel so finally I decided to remove the fuel tank. After pressure testing I determined the upper surface was cracked. This was
caused by the poor design of the tank and vent system. Ref more details at the Hess Fuel Page |
|
| Fuel Vapor recovery (Ref pg 164):
A large subject, but the owner should at least check the fuel vapor recall mod was installed on applicable cars. For more details on Hess fuel venting problems ref xxxx. |
|
| V Belts (Ref pg68):
If the belts are cracked replace them all. There are four belts ....don't mess around replace them all. This is a fiddly and knuckle busting job.. |
